'SMART, SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE’: Call for papers on "Researching the EU from Australia and New Zealand"
EUROPEAN UNION CENTRES, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND together convening an international conference ‘SMART, SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE’: Researching the EU from Australia and New Zealand
9 – 11 September 2013, Australian National University, Canberra
CALL FOR PAPERS
The four EU Centres at the Australian National University, Monash University, RMIT University and the New Zealand EU Centres Network are convening together an International Conference.
At a time when the EU has high ambitions and faces critical challenges, this conference will bring together researchers from various disciplines to share their insights into the issues confronting the European Union over the next decade.
While we welcome contributions on any topic related to the broad theme, we suggest that the following sub-themes might be particularly relevant to researchers working on these questions in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the Pacific:
a) EU and the World: regionalism, challenges and bilateral relations
b) Prospects for the EU?
c) EU and Asia-Pacific
d) Creative cultures and connections
Keynotes will be presented by Dr Brendan Nelson (former Australian Ambassador to the European Union and NATO), European scholars and by the four Centre Directors.
You are invited to submit a proposal for consideration for inclusion in the Conference program. Please forward an abstract of 350-400 words by no later than 1 May 2013 to Professor Bruce Wilson, Director, European Union Centre at RMIT, at bruce.wilson@rmit.edu.au. Proposals for workshops or panel sessions will be welcome particularly. You will be advised whether your paper or workshop proposal has been accepted for the Conference by 20 May 2013.
Whether you are a postgraduate student, an early career researcher or experienced academic/practitioner, please do consider offering a paper for this Conference.
Queries about the Conference can be sent to Bruce at the email address above.
