Australian Coral Reef Society conference, August 26-28, 2011

This year the 86th Annual ACRS Conference will be held on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort. A Welcome Function will be held on the evening of Friday 26th August at 7 pm, and the Conference Dinner on Sunday 28th August at 7 pm. Presentations will occur on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies National Student Mentoring Day will be held on Friday 26th August and workshops will be held on Monday 29th August (on Coral reefs and climate change; Conservation of coral reefs; Anthropogenic disturbances on coral reefs; The effects of climate change on coral reef fishes and fisheries etc.).

This year we will also be holding a public forum on reef resilience and discussing our best chance of saving reefs. This will take place on the evening of Saturday 27th at 5 pm.

ACRS will provide travel grants to subsidise travel by students. Details on eligibility and how to apply can be found on the Students awards page. There will also be prizes for the best student member oral and poster presentations.
