Overall Goal Solid waste management in the South Pacific area is improved
Purpose:
1. SPREP is recognised internationally as a qualified organization, able to design and manage projects and work with partners to support the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) to improve their solid waste management programs
2. The technical capacity of Pacific islanders to manage solid waste is enhanced
3. The environmental impacts of inappropriate disposal of waste oil is minimised in Pacific Island countries
Outputs and Activities:
1. A regional waste management training program is developed and delivered according to an approved work program
2. Sustainable waste oil collection system and export from Pacific island countries to Fiji is implemented
3. The French Territories are involved in the project from the beginning
4. Partnerships are developed and strengthened and co-financing secured
5. Pacific island countries are supported to develop future country activity proposals
