PLANT-KBBE "PLant Alliance for Novel Technologies - towards implementing the Knowledge-Based Bio-Economy in Europe"
The 'Transnational PLant Alliance for Novel Technologies – towards implementing the Knowledge-Based Bio-Economy in Europe' (Plant-KBBE) is funded in partnership between ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche), the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) in Spain, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany and the FCT (Fundação para a Ciênca e a Tecnologia) in Portugal.
This new 2012 call for proposals has been developed to promote competitive, novel plant production systems and agriculture in sustainable conditions. The objectives are to develop
i) transnational cooperation in application-oriented plant genome research,
ii) novel approaches for the improvement of crop plants and algae, and
iii) their use in agricultural and industrial innovations.
Focal points of Plant-KBBE are the application of research results in industrial practice, the strengthening of the competitiveness of the involved businesses, and the reinforcement of the cooperation between public research and industry.
The 2012 call deals with “Food & Feed: crop yields and nutrition security in the context of climate change”. Research topics are:
1.Yield stability
2.Plant health
3.Adaptation to pressures from the environment, phenotypic plasticity
